Fibre access networks is the most important broadband technology of the future and the FTTH Forum is the right place to understand, why.

Following a study of BMP-TC, the number of households connected to FTTH has been doubled from 5.7 to 11.7 Million ! 185 top reference projects are listed in more than 30 European countries and this is a true signal of the dynamic of this market. Municipalities and Utility companies are showing growth rates of 230% of Fiber projects, many of them with Open Access Models.

At the first edition of the FTTH Forum – last year in Portugal - over 200 senior professionals have attended to learn how, why and where service providers are investing in fibre in their access networks.

This tremendous success encouraged us to hold another successful Forum in Barcelona earlier this year and now it’s the time again to open the door to our annual conference in Portugal – once again endorsed by the FTTH Council Europe, featuring a Keynote of its president Karel Helsen.

The focus of the FTTH Forum 2009 is on:

  • Fiber in the Municipalities
  • New Cabling Technologies and Techniques
  • The Amsterdam project

Amsterdam will be in the center of one of our panels. The project responsibles of one of the true success stories in Europe will be present and talk about: “Amsterdam fiber 2 years on: Problems & Fails, Lessons learned, successes, and how all things end well”

Another highlight will be the presence of Adrian Wooster, Chief Technology Officer for the UK Community Broadband Network (CBN). Adrian helps communities and, more usually, local councils to plan how to bring fibre to their part of the world without having to wait for BT to roll it out for them. His participation will give a very special value to a list of already confirmed speakers, that will represent once again the most important Next Generation Networks conference in Portugal.
